Just a quick question about backer databases, if DB sellers are recycling and reselling the same names and details over and over again then the value isn't worth much.

In terms of who you're reach out to, won't they get a bit fed up? Also, how did the DB owner gain the data in the first place, pretty sure not every backer agreed to have their info in a DB and resold, as there's no benefit to them and only to the resellers.

things are going to get ugly if you consider cold leads as your only sources to gain traction.

the idea of getting leads is to line up potential backers before you launch your campaign, hoping it will score maybe half your goal before he project went dull at certain point.

you can collect leads through ads too among many others.

dont buy emails its pointless and unethical. Krowdster has been around for a while so I'd give it a try there are more reputable companies out there though :)

I have a huge collection of email addresses from previous crowdfunding campaigns. I'm always open to discuss partnerships if others are interested in this data also. My email address is morebackers@gmail.com

I am running a Indiegogo crowdfunding project now, I search on the Internet to find solutions on how to promote this project. Some of the websites claim that they can provide the backers information to us, but we need to pay money for this. As this is the first time of our crowdfunding, I am not sure whether the backers information are useful, and if we have the backers information, we send emails to them to introduce the campaign to them, will they have any actions on this and support our projects?

Our campaign is currently live and we did end up using Krowdster's backer directory.

I don't know what backer database has but Krowdster directory doesn't have emails for many of the backers. Even if they did, I don't think it's a good idea to email backers directly unsolicited and might even be illegal.

So for us, the main benefit here was NOT using the directory to directly contact the backers. Rather, we used the backer directory list to create a Facebook 'lookalike' audience (https://www.facebook.com/business/help/164749007013531), which we used as a target for facebook ads. So far this seems to be working decently well, we are pretty great clickthrough rates and decent cost-per-pledge.

Again that's our experience. We got a discount on Krowdster's full launch package so the cost is working out to be worth it.

    hope that helps.
