Kickstarter is just a platform - it's up to us how our experience will be. If we put lots of effort into preparing before, and taking care during the campaign, the outcome should be satisfying (I hope - I haven't finished yet :) )

    Your campaign is amazing!

We've had a good experience with our first campaign and have just launched a new one. The one thing I have to say about Kickstarter is that it's addicting! The whole process of it, both nerve racking and addicting at the same time.

The biggest thing I've found is-just what you guys have done-is to have community backing and a strong presence. running a successful campaign solely from the internet can be difficult. Not saying that it's impossible just more difficult.

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful campaign!

It's been largely positive, but so nerve-racking! I wasn't really prepared for taking on another full-time job, but that's exactly what running a Kickstarter is. Fortunately, folks have been incredibly receptive to my project and what we're trying to do!

My experience has been a bit of both. I loved designing the page, which allowed me to play around with the writing and layout. However, since my project is a game project for Fenrir Studios, I'm in charge of all our PR management, which has been a nightmare. It isn't fun, or do you feel very worthwhile when you send out over 400 emails to media, bloggers, Youtubers and Twitch streamers only to barely get a response from anyone. Those that you do are what you might call small fries - not even that, mostly the fries that fell out of the package and now sit on the floor ignored by everyone. This hurts exposure of our project, which is bad since we have a large team depending on it going through.

If anyone wants to take a look at my Kickstarter, be my guest.

    Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for sharing all our experience here !
My name is Min-Hyung and I am currently collaborating with two other people, Max and Furik. We are all MA students in London. And we would like to successfully bring this project on Kickstarter.
After lots of research and readings, I could find many differents informations about how to run a proper actual campaign, but what I am very curious about is how can we prepare the project before actually launch it on the platform. I guess, there are a lot of more work that we think before the campaign.
So, what resources did you use and what do we need to know before launching properly our campaign ? What methods did you use to get our audience interested in your work ?

If you can help us on it, I will be very pleased to discuss with you ! Thanks to you, we will learn more about this crowdfunding process !

Thank you very much for reading and sharing !

Hi I'm Nick! My buddy Marc and I just started our project Wear Acoustic. We design and produce Hardwood and Bamboo sunglasses! Marc is located in Northern California and I'm in Oklahoma, headed to Knoxville, TN soon. We are learning as we go. Trying to keep our expectations in check but stay motivated and push on!

    - Have you learned any new skills (marketing/social media)?
I've learned that it's hard work that you cannot slack on!

    - Have you gotten any backers you don't know?
Yes, a few. Mostly friends but there are some who have found us.

    - What has been frustrating?
Lack of exposure. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc. # of followers =/= 3 of backers.

    - How did you motivate yourself daily?
Our project is brand new, so I am still in the daily motivating phase. We believe in our product and our ideas, keep a positive attitude is key to not giving up.

    - Are you planning on starting a business if your Kickstarter goes well?
Yes! Our plan is to continue raising funds and researching new product ideas. Hardwood and bamboo sunglasses are our initial product but we want to produce further products. More wood and leather accessories.

    - What tools or websites do you recommend (others than this one haha)?
Every social media outlet possible! lol G+, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. Social media management apps like Hootsuite or Buffer are nice to use as well.

Our site is WearAcoustic.com and links to our kickstarter page, please check us out!

Hello, I'm currently in the middle process of our campaign and it's been a little tough getting people to get to the page.
We've also been scammed a couple times and that wasn't fun at all.

Do you guy's have any tips or know any PR Companies that actually work or how to get a more successful outcome.

    Thank's everyone!

The problem I see with all the PR companies that contacted us is that they want a large cash sum up front. This does not make sense to me. If you could really help the project why not take a percentage of what was over funded? People start Kickstarter campaigns because they need money, they can't give royalties on the budget they are seeking if they are asking for the minimum needed.
One thing that got me was paying for advertisement. There is seemingly no way to prove that I got any clicks from it. I paid $1000.00 for allegedly 67,000 impressions over the course of 3 days. It was up for part of the first day and couldn't see it since and definitely did not do very well seeing as I only have 200 somewhat views on the video, mostly from Kickstarter as well as my own efforts. Facebooks ads on the other hand have been seemingly helpful; at the very least I see the result and get more likes on my page.
Wills and Wonders is now on Kickstarter!
