How I got my project funded on the first day

Great tips, especially the e-mail lists.

Using something like MailChimp (http://mailchimp.com/) can be a great way to organize mailing lists. People would be surprised how effective e-mail marketing still is, as with most things, the trick is to target the right market.

Make sure you get started early building a social media following. Let the public know, with constant updates, when the campaign is going live. They will be there for you. Setting a reachable goal so that you can be fully funded within a day or two can really help the hype generated by your campaign.

There is usually a pretty slow period during the middle of a campaign, don't let it get you down. Keep your social media active with useful and relevant content, and try to reach out to influencers and local journalists. Bloggers and journalist will see the campaign as much more newsworthy it is apparent that many people are already interested. This is where having reachable goals comes in handy again.

A really good idea to approach successful campaigns and make a deal with them. Definitely a viable option for any campaign. Thanks for that!

The reachable goal is important. I have seen projects that I otherwise would have donated to, and have passed it up because their goal was too high in my view.
