I think setting the true minimum for the project funding goal is the key. I had to restart my first Kickstarter twice because I was setting the funding goal based on what I wanted, not what I needed. My most recent project, which has a very low funding goal of $500, met the funding goal after 35 minutes.

Thanks for the advice.
Yes, right amount is important. My first campaign has set the duration too long and amount too high.
I have learned from the first campaign and I got fully funded this time.

Thank you for this post, I like the idea of doing a deal with another successful KickStarter campaign.

When you said you partnered with someone... did you just contact them via email? or is there a platform where you could find people like us?

Great tips, we've been doing some of the same and have 9 days left to fund. Our first day went great, it's been a bit slow, but somewhat steady.
This is the final book of the trilogy, the first 2 books were printed thanks to crowdfunding, so we are sure this 3rd book will fund and will get printed!

hoku wrote:3. I partnered with someone who had successfully run a similar campaign

This person had over 1,500 backers from his previous project on his email list. We worked out a deal so that on the day I launched he sent out a message to his email list about my project.

Hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have questions!

Tried searching the word 'unsolicited' (only word coming to mind atm) in this topic to see if anyone had asked about it but nothing.

Anyway, is this okay to do? It seems like a slightly grey area to me.
How is this any different from buying an email list off of somebody?

Any opinions on this?

Great advice. Something we didn't do was partner! Will do next time.
