Actually i'd like to update my initial opinion on Kickbooster.

After i think 2 days, nothing had happened on there and i began to regret the $30 i paid to be on the platform.

But after 3 more days, i now have 2 boosters + Kickboost themselves and have 8 sales through them. So it's very much paid for itself already. I will add that i went way above the 10% in order to get them. But still its been a net gain and with 25 days to go, i'm excited to see what more those boosters can do.

I would add that it would be nice if project creators could self identify their campaigns with keywords. In my case, fashion and video games for example. As there must be some twitch streamers and youtubers who could be interested, but i can't be sure how good the marketplace is for them to be able to search these key words and find me. i'll bet those that did find it were just searching for high percentage boosts.

So overall... worth a shot if your project is already doing fairly well. probably hugely beneficial if your campaign is one of those behemoths that won't stop. If however your project is struggling, its my guess that maybe this site won't be able to assist as much.

Hi again. Wow i see you're a veteran member here so undoubtedly you know your stuff. Do you mean projects where there's a low cost/big margin? or just generally low funding goal?

I'm using it now, still only 3 boosters including the main site. Up to 10 boosts through it even on a high 20% incentive.

After looking into the numbers further, i realised that 20% is eating a LOT of margin. However i would still be willing to use it even at 30%, for a few reasons.

    1) It gets you a new potential long term customer you couldn't have reached.
    2) In my case, more socks sold = significantly lower cost per pair as 200 minimum order is hugely more expensive than 500 moq.
    3) It gets you access to their email which can then be a potentially free customer for future projects.

So in the short term, it could eat away all profits if not careful. But on the plus side. there could be long term benefits.

I mean it only works for those who have lower price point per product. Of course, regardless, its going to do nothing without good presentation. Yours just happen to have a good one.

I'm sure there will be a variety of results from using this platform. Some will pay $30 and get 0 results. Some will get 50 boosters promoting their already successful campaign and taking it to the next level.

Update on mine: after 8 days, i have 8 boosters signed up to promote the project - and only one of them plus kickbooster themselves have made any sales. KB made 1 sale and a Booster called Backers Today (I believe they are themselves a fellow marketing agency) have mad 15 sales, totalling almost $400.

To reiterate, depending on your market, it may be worth giving 20/30... even 40% of each sale to a booster. Why?

    1) if you have a product that gets much cheaper the more you make, like mine, then it could be very beneficial simply making a sale at no profit. As it'll bring down your per item cost.

    2) a backer is a customer that you can potentially make a loyal fan of your work for years to come.

    3) a backer is potentially someone who will go on to share your project with others, especially at the end of the project.

    4) if you give away a high percentage, i assume that you'll appear higher in booster's searches and be more likely to secure a booster.

One more thing to note in KB's defense - all of what i talked about above was the free marketplace to find random promoters and Youtubers and stuff hopefully. But i think the platform intends for you to go out and promote them to your own friends, or find your own influential people to promote it. So in that regard, KB's failure to bring sales is really your own failure to utilise their platform, not their fault.

Whether it is a waste of $30 or not comes down to your project and how well you promote the KB page.

Yesterday I reported one of their boosters as a spammer. §7.1 in their TOS says:
You cannot SPAM. You cannot SPAM. You cannot SPAM. We will terminate your account on the first offense of SPAMMING. Do not send email to lists or groups that you do not have permission to send to. We cannot stress this enough, we WILL terminate your account on the first offense.

Let's see what happens after the weekend. I sent them 3 mails from the same spammer.

I haven't seen any pr company that actively solicits Kickstarters to be genuine.

Thanks for the warning, if I ever make a Kickstarter I'll steer clear of Kickbooster.

i gotta say, really disagree with that conclusion. so people spam... are they people you would otherwise have converted? prob not. you might not like it if youre coca cola or something. But as an unknown just trying to get backers, some bad booster spamming your site everywhere isnt the worst thing in the world. you might even get 1 sale from it?
