That could be a problem when running Kickstarter campaigns LOL :)

To be a successful kickstarter campaign,
    1) marketing is crucial key for success; need to use facebook, linked in, google+, and lots of forums.
    2) engagement with backers
    3) creativity

Dont underestimate how lazy your friends is even to go in and give 1dollar. Have a lauchparty with all friends present... its so much easier to get them to do it when you are in the room :)

Biggest thing I've learned in launching to successful Kickstarter campaign:

    1. Email is king. Drive email signups well before you've launched your campaign.
    2. Promote everywhere you can.
    3. Facebook ads work well, if you don't just send people directly from ad -> campaign.

I'm new to kickstarter but would say reaching out to everybody you know, friend, business, sales reps everybody, before you launch. Going into it I wanted the launch to be sort of a surprise and looking back just these few days that has been my biggest mistake!

Nice replies. Some good ideas, like adding the QR code to the product; never thought of that.

Marketing is most important, I think everyone knows that. But I like learning about other things that are not obvious, like the QR codes :)

    Hi,

I am interested in the lessons learned by crowdfunding originators (technology category) as part of my my doctoral program. I would like to interview crowdfunded entrepreneurs within the technology category that have successfully delivered their product or service. The interview would take no longer than about 20 minutes and, while, I realize that I couldn't pay you for your real worth, I offer a $ 25.00 iTunes card or $25.00 visa or amazon gift card as a thank you for participating in the survey. Please reply with a phone call to 704-900-7181 or email.. Thank You so very much.

My campaign doesn't launch until March, but one thing I have realised is the importance of starting social media way in advance. It takes time and work to comment, like and post and build up relationships with people on social media. This is a full time job and is so important to gather a following before you launch. Have people ready to talk about you or to help promote you.

The most important thing for me was making it more personal. So the social media is not pushy or salesy but rather building good content which people naturally want to follow. Also, commenting on other posts, wishing other people Good Luck on their campaigns and following and communicating with potential backers across social media so they build early trust. Am working on this now so lets see what happens - fingers crossed!

    Thanks!
