I've backed 5 (so far) because they were either really cool products that I've never heard of before or it was an existing company that I liked that was starting something new.
Just over 50 (not as Escape Envelope but as myself).
I love supporting indie comic creators and puzzle game stuff. Though the puzzle game stuff is usually expensive so I'm hoping my escape envelopes reach a decent market by being fun and engaging but not breaking the bank!
I have becked 1 project acouple of years ago, it was the pamu scroll earphones, i remember they were great earphones at the time and they were very cool, lasted me about 3 years, they were a really great product!
I recently supported a project called Flexbar, and I truly admire their work. Their project is outstanding, and I have great appreciation for what they are doing.
It does save some money, but honestly not as much as people think. Printing and shipping physical books is where most of the cost sits. As someone preparing to publish my first novel (Between Silence and Me), I can say the choice between print and digital is not just about money — it is also about experience. Some readers want the feel of a hardcover, others are happy with digital.
So yes, paperless helps, but it is more about balancing cost with the kind of connection you want readers to have with your work.
