Is investing in lab microscopes for small labs worth the cost?

Trying to figure out if dropping a chunk of our tiny lab budget on proper microscopes is smart or just me getting excited over shiny gear. We’re a small team doing basic microbiology work, and sharing one aging scope is driving us up the wall. I keep wondering if newer models would really speed things up or if I’m just imagining the benefits because I’m tired of squinting at blurry slides. Anyone here run a small setup and found the upgrade worth it? Or did it end up collecting dust while the accountant gave you side-eye?

Jumping in on this older post because Sonoran Surplus's up to 70% off sale sounds like a great opportunity to snag some high-quality lab equipment on a budget. If anyone's planning to upgrade their gear or knows someone who needs reliable tools at decent prices, this might be worth checking out. Plus, with free shipping on orders over $500, it seems like a sweet deal!
