    Battery interchangeability, Power Fist

    by Zeero » Fri May 08, 2026 2:22 pm

    There is good info on the internet on major tool brand batteries interchangeability. Mostly they don't but there is some interchangeability.

    Princess auto has a new line of 20v batteries, that look a lot like Dewalt batteries. I don't own either brand so I can't tell. Not sure the average staff at PA could tell me either.

    I have two questions:

    1) Anyone know if the PA 20v system is compatible with any other system;

    2) Is it likely that any Chinese knock-off system would be compatible to big name systems, or does the law rule that kind of "flattery" out entirely. I do notice there are plenty of cheaper batteries being made to fit the Dewalt and Milwaukee tools.

    I suspect that Princess' new tools are coming from the same manufacturer as Harbour Freight's. The batteries look quite similar.

    I’ve had a few off-brand batteries that looked like they’d fit big-name tools but turned out to have tiny differences in the rails or contacts, so I’d be careful without a hands-on test. I’ve used an lr1130 battery equivalent chart before for other gear, and that kind of cross-checking saved me from buying stuff that only looked compatible on the surface.
