    Home theater seat/sofa advice

    by SsCoobyDoO » Tue Feb 11, 2025 8:18 am

I’m looking to buy a home theater sofa in the coming days. Showrooms are pretty far from me so I’m going to buy the sofa online. There seems to be two big manufacturers. They both sell through Amazon and direct to the consumer. Seatcraft and Valencia are the two vendors. Anybody have experience w these companies or home theater seating in general? The online reviews are overwhelmingly positive for both. These sofas seem to be very well built, sturdy and comfortable. They all recline, adjustable lumbar support, power headrests, etc. I’m also looking at Flexsteel theater seating. They’re not as flashy as Seatcraft and Valencia, but they have a reputation of being extremely well built w steel frames and other overbuilt construction. I really could use a little advice or opinions on these sofas. The prices are in the 3K range so I don’t want to make a poor choice. Thanks very much for the help.

The only advice I can give regarding a new sofa is to stay far away from sofas built out of memory foam! The memory foam sofas feel great, and feel like they are solidly built for the first few months. But then they start to develop "holes" in the spots where you sit regularly. Afte a couple of years, you may find that you sink 6 inches if you sit in the same spot a lot.

If space is a concern, consider a modular sectional that lets you rearrange seating as needed. I had to make sure mine worked around a Chest of Drawers that couldn't be moved, and going modular helped a lot.
