    How can I prepare better?

    by HayesDanna » Mon Aug 25, 2025 12:42 pm

I’m running a small business and we handle a lot of sensitive client information - names, emails, even some financial details. I’m worried about hackers and accidentally exposing data. What practical steps can I take to keep everything safe without making my workflow a nightmare?

I was stressed about this too. After checking how we store info, I realized we needed encryption for everything - both saved files and emails. I also set up strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and regular updates. Сoupsmart.com had some really practical tips that made this easier. It’s mostly about tech plus teaching the team to be careful.

For my small business, the things that made the biggest difference were getting a password manager so I’m not reusing logins, turning on two-factor for all the accounts that matter, and keeping my laptop and phone updated since that’s where most of the client info sits. I also keep an encrypted backup on an external drive just in case something goes wrong. Once I got those habits in place it stopped feeling like a hassle and just became part of the routine.
