Is genetics a good career?

I see it’s been a while since you’ve posted, but I just want to say I’ve been thinking about this career too. Does anyone here know what day-to-day work looks like in genetics outside of a lab setting? I'm curious if there are roles that involve more communication with people or health education, rather than benchwork all the time. Would love to hear any experiences on that side.

I started out in genetics after switching majors, and even though the pay wasn't great right away, it got better with experience. What helped a lot during school was finding small ways to cut costs. I used the carers discount when I was working part-time as a carer during uni. Made everyday stuff more affordable while getting through a tough degree.
