Ok so my land lady has a 2001 miata that's about all I know. So she lost the keys and apparently you can't just get a key cut for it but you also got to get it programed witch apparently only the dealer can do since half of the 01s have transponder keys in them. So my question is this can I take a computer from another 01 miata that did not have a transponder key and change it with mine and it work? So any help anybody can give me would be great

Your landlady can get replacement key blanks, from Mazda and aftermarket. If your landlady has lost all of her keys, she will then have to have a locksmith cut them to fit her locks since there is no key to copy.

I had a similar issue and ended up calling them after getting stuck without my car key late at night. They showed up fast, handled everything without extra fees, and were pretty straightforward about costs. If you ever need quick help, especially with lockouts or rekeying, they’ve been solid for me.
