I'm now realizing how much having contacts and support from inner circle matters in the crowdfunding campaigns.. Plz share how you managed to do it. As whenever I write to Facebook contacts, it feels like spam no matter how much you tailor to them, I guess it's just part of the whole crowd funding thing. Keeping my fingers crossed for my project though :D

    Good luck UsmanH! Sounds scary!

Honestly, I messaged Facebook contacts once and that was it. It's more about getting the word out into the public. You want to look up places that fit your theme or what you're doing. So for us, we looked up all different gaming review sites and forums. Then we'd go to specific sites like board games, tabletops, rpgs, pc gaming, etc. You have to go to ALL outlets.

And then Reddit has been our #1 place. Just be sure to read the rules on each sub-reddit before posting. It's all about being pro-active and keep at it!

We're down to our last 3 days, so it's more important than ever to stay on top of things AND preparing for the end. We're up to almost 500% funded now! So exciting!

    Thanks for the response.
One thing I'd say about Reddit. Reddit can be very very useful for publicity and pledges but the thing is it's great for game exposure.. Or if you have a star attached with your film. Reddit has a great community for gamers and geeks but anything which would fall outside of this category would be almost impossible to get their attention. I've tried multiple times for my film there but with no luck whatsoever..

We tried a LOT on Reddit.. and I mean a LOT. And it didn't always work out, but when a gif would be made and someone ELSE posted it, for some reason, it'd go crazy. But I agree, Reddit is hit or miss and it really depends on the community. It definitely has a great gaming community overall.

Sometimes you have to change it up a bit too. We changed our wording multiple times til' we found the right one. Added images and most importantly, never giving up. We posted our game to ALL the press. I sent out hundreds and hundreds of emails and finally one wrote an article on us, which really gave us a huge boost. That was a week after we started.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think I'd keep trying again and again on Reddit and might get lucky once! If it'd survive the initial downvote parade then it would stand a chance..

    Thanks so much!

Our last 24 hours have been insane. We got on the front page of Reddit TWICE in one day, so our Kickstarter has exploded. We're now almost 1000% funded with 48 hours to go. This is amazing.

    Greetings!!

That's great Reddit has been such a success for you!! I intend to try and use Reddit myself as one of my major avenues for promotion. Not being an avid 'redditor' myself I hope to have a buddy or two help me out. How many subreddits would you say you've posted in? My project's based on wallets (yes I know!! =P), and eco-friendly products. It's a durable, paper-based wallet line which I think has a decently strong base to start with. Do you have a link or few to your most successful posts? Good luck and keep it up!!

    Thanks,
    Brad!!

How do you know when you have enough people base to launch a successful campaign?

That's awesome!!!! :D :D Congrats!!! So happy for you. When things settle down, if you'd like to share some of your thoughts on Reddit promotion formally in an interview, would be happy to have you on CrowdCrux or CrowdfundingPr's blog.

Out of curiosity, what are creator's opinions in general on mentioning KickstarterForum.org in an update should their project be successful as a place where creators can get feedback and share their experiences?

Sorry for the late reply. This day has been crazy!

    So the updates:

We're now 1055% funded with 38 hours to go.
We've reached all our stretch goals and anything that comes in after is going to improving the game and making sure the goals are the best they can be.
We really want to get on Steam, so we finally reached the top 100 and are currently at rank # 41. Usually the top 50 move on to Steam each month or every 2 weeks or so. Cross your fingers!

bradAnderson: Thank you! Hmm we've posted in about 30 sub-reddits or so. At least that's how many I have written. Then there are the ones other people have posted about us that I'd randomly find or they'd go viral. Like I said previously, it was more when other people posted that they'd be successful. We had a few somewhat successful ones if I remember correctly. Here are the ones that were most popular:

    http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments ... _speak_of/
    http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments ... looks_fun/
    http://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/commen ... s_awesome/
    http://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/comments/1z ... h_physics/

We did a mini AMA here:
    http://www.reddit.com/r/casualiama/comm ... _funded_on
Knils and myself (kimikodesu) are the two developers talking in there.

Bobberwatch: Not sure what you mean. There's only two of us that has worked on this project, so we did everything ourselves. We were just dedicated and kept at it every single day!

sbriggman: Thank you! It's been an awesome ride :) Sure thing that sounds great! You want our email or just PM me on here?

That sounds good. Definitely is good to have a central place to get tips and help and what not.
