I am from the state of Nevada in the United States.

I was not born here, but I have lived here since I was a teenager (30 years) and no other place has felt quite like home.

Most people think that when I say Nevada, I mean Las Vegas. This is not the case, I live closer to our state capital, Carson City, Nevada!

One of the reasons why Nevadan's have such a hard time with outsiders' pronunciation of our state is because not many people understand that the true pronunciation is to honor the native culture that lived here long before it was colonized.
