Why doesn’t reverse image search work with social media websites?

It doesn’t even work with profile avatars.

Social media sites make their content hard to robo copy, and if the source image isn’t in google’s (or whoever’s) database, it’s tough to find.

A lot of social platforms block bots or compress and rename images, so typical reverse search tools end up shrugging their shoulders. I’ve had better luck with tools made for finding faces on social sites, like face2social.com, since it works off the actual face instead of relying on the image being indexed. It picks up stuff regular engines miss, even with profile pics or cropped shots.
