Hey everyone,

What do you all recommend for pledging money that someone has given you and asked you to pledge for them? My grandparents are not tech savvy and I'm several hours away and won't be home at all during my campaign. They want to put money in my bank account and have me pledge in their name.

Is this something I can do legally (according to Kickstarter rules? Can I create an account and pledge in their name and use my card?

Does anyone have experience with this?

I had a launch party last Monday and I was surprised at how many of our guest did not know what Kickstarter was. I kid you not I was given quarters at one point to support, while others gave checks. Until now I have family members in Australia telling me they wan tto send a check instead because they don't have a cc. We can't pledge for other people. Kickstarter has a bots that will know if you use the same credit cards or if you pledge for your self, your project can get suspended. So don't do it.

You could have them give money to a friend, who pledges on their behalf (though must be secure)? You could create the account for them under their name and walk them through step-by-step?

Yeah. I offered the second option and they are a bit stubborn. Already put the money in my account. I'll have to try the first one.

Boyfriend/girlfriend? Mom? Dad? Sister? Brother? Roommate? Close coworker?

Definitely don't do it under your own financials.

I did this by having my wife pledge. Her pledge and subsequent increases in her pledge were based on money friends and relatives comitted to but would not fund directly as they felt uncomfortable with making online donations. I don't think it can be from your computer as it will recognize you and tell you you can't pledge to yourself. Hope this helps.

I don't see why you cant use your own account to pledge, My wife and I have joint accounts and she may want to pledge for me or vice versa, and If you want to invest in your own idea, well why not?

You should be all right since you have their consent.

Paul, when your wife pledged, was it on your own project?

Were you successfully funded and/or did Kickstarter pull a plug? I'm worried for two people who share the same name and/or billing address would get caught as "funding your own project."

Would love any details!
