4C Broken Into, Door Key Hole Destroyed // Tips for Robust Repair?

    by bxbhulk » Tue Sep 01, 2026 12:05 pm

My 4C Spider was broken into last week. :(

The assailant(s) seemingly drilled or punched the key hole on the driver side door to get in.
Was done in broad daylight in a fairly busy public parking lot, so seems like they got in easy.

The key hole still works, but now you can unlock the door by sticking in a flat head screwdriver (or anything that fits) and turning, no actual key required.

    Obviously this has me spooked.

    Two questions:

    1) What's the minimum repair here? Can I buy a new master cylinder and swap it in myself (I'm fine with having a 2nd key if necessary)? Anyone have a cylinder part number or experience to share doing this fix?

    2) Is there a more robust manual entry option? One that can't be defeated so easily?
Just want to ensure I have a way to get in if my car or key fob battery ever dies. Would happily trade a little pain in that situation for something more robust to break ins.
