I think your #1, and your #3 are VERY good points. ...But i do recommend people not rely on friends and family to get funded. It skews your results and make's it hard to see if you have a truly sustainable business models. ...So other than point #2, this is good info according to my experience.

I did the first two for my project, but I have NO idea how I'd find someone to team up with, is there any advice on how to do that more specifically?

I'm having the exact same trouble. I already try to become active within various communites but it doesn't really seem that doing so will help spreading the word when I start my campaign. But of course I'm not giving up hope yet.

Thanks for the post. I did #1 and #2 and we had a decent 1st day funding to 25% however I think #3 is REALLY key, my partner has run a successful campaign but it was much smaller.
