Search results

Hi,

I don't know if this is something I can configure somewhere or it's a new feature that could be implemented.

When I search the site, for example try to search "press releases". The search results all include the subject title and a bit of the text from the post. I think it would be more useful if I could only see the subject titles in a list and no text from the post. In this way you could see more results without advancing page. In the example search for "press releases" I find there are 16 pages of results. I just find discouraging so many pages and I may not pass from the first or second. If the results where more compressed it feels you can scan more in each page result, and if I'm really interested in finding something I may press advance page a few times more.

Just an idea.

Hmm. Will think about that. Wonder how others feel about the search functionality. I'll look into it or making it an option.

Ok, thanks. I guess an option would be even better.

Have you tried using the forum's advanced search features: search.php

Oh! I think I probably didn't. I just tried the advance search selecting “Display results as: Topics” and the same search query “Press Releases” now it's more vertically compressed, only two pages vs. the 16 pages if display results was set to posts. So that's probably good enough.

I just realised too of the advance search link after the regular search results.

Thanks for the tip.

I think a text snippet with the text searched for highlighted or bold or whatever is nice. Sometimes there are arbitrary mentions not as relevant towards what you're looking for.
