Just wanted to get to know some of the users here a little more :).

What is your day job?
Lucky enough that I do work related to crowdfunding about 80% of the time. I also work part-time for a mobile development company (android apps).

My background is in sales and programming (front end dev, java). I have launched/worked in around 5 or 6 different startup companies.

What is your passion project?
My passion project is to keep finding new ways to help creators (designers, hardware entrepreneurs, software entrepreneurs, authors, etc) get noticed and launch new products.

I'm also planning to start doing crowdfunding classes in NYC.

Wow! That's cool. What type of novel? Have you finished it/what are you raising money for?

Thanks, it is a young adult/fantasy novel. It's almost complete. Just finishing up adding the magic system in. My goal date to have it being sold is June 2014. As soon as I finish my odds and ends, I want to get it edited/proofed. My book cover is almost complete.

I'm raising money to get a good editor/proof-reader, plus for marketing/advertising purposes. I want to get my novel out there for others to read. Plus I don't want there to be typo's or grammar errors.

What is your day job?
Lucky for me, I already work(ed) in the gaming industry. I'm currently looking for a new job while running this Kickstarter, but I just love the industry and exhibiting at conventions.

My background is a wide mix of stuff. I've done a lot of management in retail and restaurants. Administrative, tech support, web design, marketing and community management.

What is your passion project?
My passion project is to start new things and get people excited about them.

I'm learning new things as well like programming and 3D art, and am looking to improve on my 2D art skills.

Day job--audio video salesperson at huge electronics super store. Not Best Buy, but the place I work is well known in the West. Think Wherehouse store with most stores having a theme.

Passion project--crowdfunding my art! I read an amazing article from a publisher of Art Space Tokyo. He mentioned that Kickstarter was an amazing platform that--if utilized properly--allowed one to attain seed capital to launch a micro business. This is the Master Plan. In fact my previous project and April campaign are leading up to a mega project u will launch in late 2014. If I thread a tiny needle I hope to be able to work full time as an artist in 2015.

I was a blackjack dealer in a casino. I worked in the industry for fifteen years and enjoyed it. I had to quit that job in order to liquidate my 401k for my new passion. I am trying to make a toy from a concept my two sons invented. It is called Noochie Golf. It is named after my youngest son whose nickname is The Nooch. Check it out if you like at noochiegolf.com

Hello!

For my day job I'm an accountant, been doing this for 13 years but getting tired of helping other people get and make money.

My passion is to successfully fund and launch my company BoosterPalz, which is a portable animal plush pillow that helps keep kids upright, in any direction, when they fall asleep in the car. :D

Wow - pretty incredible to see the range of professions.

@BoosterPalz - "but getting tired of helping other people get and make money." Definitely know the feeling here. Your product is really cute/adorable. To spread the word for the product, I would recommend picking out a few different family bloggers (mommy bloggers, people that blog about family life, etc) and asking them if you can send them a prototype for a review.

@noochie - Well, that's a pretty cool job. Financing your new project with your 401k is pretty ballsy. Give you props for that. With the startups I've done, it's always helped to be friends with/form partnerships with people that have a similar customer base as mine (though not in direct competition). I've seen a few other child-centric products on the forum. Might be interesting to see how you guys could help each other out or share information.

@kimiko - Feel like 3D art skills will only increase in their value (especially CAD) - Have seen a lot more fashion types getting into 3D Printing. Seems like you've worn a lot of different hats w/ regards to jobs.
